Who We Are

“Kindred” means a group of persons related to one another; kinship; those sharing the same beliefs. In baptism, we are given a new birth by water and the Holy Spirit and become children of our heavenly Father through Jesus Christ.  We become co-heirs with Christ and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit who walks beside us and dwells inside us.

Kindred Lutheran Church is not a building, it is the people.
Don’t go to church.  Be the church!

We are a vibrant, ELCA faith community in Kindred, North Dakota, about 25 miles southwest of downtown Fargo.  Nestled beside the Sheyenne River in the beautiful Red River Valley, we are surrounded by some of the most fertile and productive farm land in the world.  At the same, time we are a stone’s throw away from high tech facilities.  Founded in 1887 as a Norwegian Lutheran Church, we are well grounded in our history while living faithfully in the present and moving forward into God’s future!

Our Mission

As Kindred Lutheran Church, we aspire to live like Jesus, love like Jesus, and lead like Jesus. United together we share God’s word to all, teach all, nurture all, and welcome all.

Our Purpose

Kindred Lutheran Church exists to be disciples and make disciples who are bold, daring, adventurous followers of Jesus Christ!

Our Vision

Following Jesus is a journey, a lifelong process of faith formation that we describe simply as: Gathered to Grow – Sent to Serve
