"After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 'The time has come,' he said. 'The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!'" (Mark 1:14-15)
"As for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it, and how from childhood you have known the sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 3:14-15)
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Corinthians 1:18)
"What's the good news?
Jesus lived and died and rose again for you. You are forgiven. You are right with God!
"What do I have to do to be saved?"
Nothing. Jesus did everything. It is finished. Listen and believe. Trust the promise!
"What are you going to do now that you don't have to do anything?"
Jesus doesn’t say “go and do this and then follow me”. He doesn’t say, “Get your life in order, sort out your problems and stop sinning first." Jesus simply says, "Follow me."
