Baptism is at the heart of confirmation. Confirmation is actually properly known as “Affirmation of Baptism”—the time when you become an adult and respond to God’s gift of salvation through Jesus Christ and his call on your life. 9th Grade confirmation students make a faith fold in the fall before their confirmation which occurs the last Sunday in October on Reformation Sunday.
Think of a science fair display constructed of corrugated cardboard, about a yard high with three panels on it. On its three sections, students express important elements of their faith. Students pick a theme for their faith-fold, identify topics that have helped them form their faith foundation, develop and write stories on each of the topics, create their presentation on the faith-fold, and then spend time learning how to talk about those faith topics.
