Read more about how the backpack program at Kindred feeds kids throughout the year!
Have you heard of the Backpack Program?
During the school year, more than 33,000 children across North Dakota qualify for and greatly rely on the federal free and reduced lunch program to meet their daily nutritional needs.
But on weekends, many of these children struggle with hunger. The Backpack Program is designed to fill gaps in meals during the weekend for children on free and reduced lunches by providing such items as milk, juice, snacks, and food for four meals.
My family would like to join!
If your children are on the free and reduced lunch program and you would like to participate in the Backpack Program, please complete the form and submit it. If you have any questions feel free to contact the Principal at Kindred Elementary School (428-3388) or Pastor Andrew at Kindred Lutheran Church (428-3630). If your children are not on the free and reduced lunch program they may still qualify, so please do not hesitate to request assistance.
I would like to sponsor a child!
Currently it costs only $4.25 to fill a backpack for the weekend. To sponsor a child for an entire year, it costs only $162. If you would like to ensure children have what they need to learn and grow, envelopes are available at the Church.
Thank you for sharing God’s great gifts!

We return to the CROSS which reminds us that Jesus came not to be served but “to serve” (Matthew 20:28).
Being servants is our calling as disciples who are obedient to Christ’s command, “So if I, your Lord and teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. Very truly, I tell you, servants are not greater than their Master, nor are messengers greater than the one who sent them” (John 13:14-16).
We reach beyond the walls of the church, serving the needy and hurting in our immediate community as well as the world. This is faith active in love.
